Coming home after a long and stressful day at work and being able to unwind by using the technology you have at home to take your mind away from everything is a very rewarding feeling. However, there is one drawback: all technology and everything that comes with it costs money, and it usually costs a lot of money! This can make us feel bad about the money we’re spending on what is essentially a recreational activity. Fortunately, there are some ingenious methods to save money on these indulgences, and we’ll show you how in this post!
Downgrade your mobile contract
Like many others, you may have games on your phone or use it for personal reasons such as social media and text messaging with family and friends. It’s all too easy to add on extra features, just as with your internet bill, and then end up with a hefty bill that you don’t really need. Most providers will say that they are unable to lower your bill because they must continue to receive payment from you. This is inaccurate, therefore make sure you bring it up with them so they can give you a far better deal. It’s even possible that your lower deal won’t modify many of your present terms, so it’s well worth a go!
Use online emulators
If you grew up in the late 80s and 90s then there’s a good chance you had the pleasure of playing on 8 bit consoles with your family and friends. These consoles are no longer produced, and because they are so nostalgic, those that still work are expensive to buy. Instead, why not use online emulators to save yourself some money while still having the experience of sitting cross legged on the floor in front of your favourite game?
Go second hand
It’s understandable that when a new game is released for a console that you don’t own, you’ll want to hurry out and get that console so that you can join in on the fun. New consoles, though, regardless of how long they’ve been out, can still be expensive. Instead, try purchasing used consoles so that you can still participate in all of the excitement while saving a substantial amount of money! People frequently sell their consoles because they are simply too busy to use them, yet they are in perfect working order! Just make sure everything is turned on before giving over any money!
Sell unwanted games and tech
As discussed briefly above, there are times when you either don’t have time for specific games or technology, or you’ve outgrown it and want to cash in on it to go toward your next upgrade. People can sell their games, consoles, phones, and other technology to stores like CEX in exchange for cash. While you can do this on the website, it may be more convenient to visit your local store so that your products can be checked in-person and you can walk away with the money the same day. Be careful that companies like CEX will not give you a ‘full’ sale price.
