It is also important to clean the gutters on your home before hurricane season. This will help prevent water from backing up and flooding your home during heavy rains. You can either do this yourself or hire a professional gutter cleaner to do it for you.
Make sure to check the downspouts as well; if they are clogged, water will not be able to properly drain away from your house, which could lead to serious damage during a storm.
