VERIZON-holiday

The holidays are fast approaching and if you are anything like me sometimes you may be under pressure to find the perfect gift. Something that maybe is for the whole family? But is also cool enough that you’d want it anyway? I have two great items you can pickup from Verizon that will hit both of those check marks.

pixelWhen you are out and about one of the most important things you can have with you is your phone and if it’s slow it’s not going to help when you’re with your family and really need it. That’s where a new Google Pixel will come in handy. The Pixel is Google’s new phone and it is very fast. I got a chance to play with a Pixel 32GB and it felt so good in my hands. The touch response and overall build of the phone was amazing. I am also impressed with the camera launch time. Camera quality is important and the Pixel doesn’t disappoint but when you need the speed to capture those quick moments, how fast the camera launches is a test I like to perform.

From a quick launch of the camera to blazing fast web browsing speeds. I can really see the Pixel being a family favorite this holiday season. I think the kids might fight over who gets to pick the next game more than anything, and mom likes to control YouTube on the TV using the phone. So I think the Pixel will be a great choice for our family and if you’re like us, yours as well.

CanaryThis next item will be a great way to keep an eye on the house while you are out and about using your new Pixel. The Canary is a smart home security system that is very easy to use! After unboxing a Canary here at home I had no trouble getting it setup and monitoring my house. Getting the Canary app on my phone was just as easy and now I can get all sorts of alerts and notifications about different security events. There’s a video camera, air monitor, 90+ dB siren, motion detector, and other mobile alerts. Hook it up wirelessly or with an ethernet cable and store everything with AES 256-bit encryption. I am probably going to get a couple Canary’s to spread around the house. One is more than enough for an apartment, but I think we would be good with 3 in our home.

Home security is becoming increasingly important as we post our lives on social media. We are always so caught up in the moment that we don’t think about what our social posts are telling others. Maybe your innocent picture from the theme park is an invitation to someone that you’re not home. That’s where the Canary will come in handy and with Pixel, it will be like you never left the house.

So whether you are looking for something to take with you on the go or something that you can leave behind to leave you feeling a little safer, these two items would make any family happy this holiday.

I'm a 40-year-old father blessed with two wonderful children: a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. My life revolves around my beautiful wife, who is the cornerstone of our family. Without her unwavering support, none of what I do would be possible. By day, I serve as a network administrator for a local school district, ensuring smooth operations in the realm of technology. During the evenings, you'll often find me engrossed in various creative pursuits, from illustrating books to crafting websites or composing music. But above all, my priority is spending quality time with my kids. Parenthood has been a profound journey of growth and discovery for me, and now, armed with a keyboard instead of a pen, I'm eager to share my experiences and insights with others.
