314 DAY SCAVENGER HUNT – MARCH 14
City Museum wants to help everyone find their STL spirit on 314 Day (March 14) at one of St. Louis’ most iconic places. Celebrate 314 Day with a scavenger hunt at City Museum. Willy Wonka had a golden ticket, Air Bud had a golden retriever, and CIty Museum has a golden… shoe heel?
Why a shoe heel? It’s to honor City Museum’s heritage as the International Shoe Co. warehouse. From the late 1800s through the mid-1900s, St. Louis was second only to New York in shoe and garment manufacturing. At one time, Washington Avenue had more shoe manufacturers than any other street in the world and was deemed “Shoe Street, USA.” This included the International Shoe Co. factory and the warehouse which is now City Museum.
To celebrate the history of St. Louis’ Garment District on this area-code-themed holiday, City Museum has dusted off 314 shoe heels from the warehouse, painted them gold and hidden them around the museum.
Guests are invited to scour every corner of the Museum’s Enchanted Caves, Architecture Hall, Beatnik Bob’s, MonstroCity (weather permitting) and the rest of the museum to claim a prize, including candy, City Museum swag and apparel, or even a pair of tickets.
The Scavenger Hunt is included with general admission or a Member Pass. Each golden shoe heel may only be redeemed once and must be redeemed during open hours (9:30 a.m. –10 p.m.) on Friday, March 14.
*Flash Sale* Tickets are only $15 if purchased online and used now through Sunday, March 16.
