A Few Things to Remember When Donating

Before loading up the car and heading to a donation location, here are a few things worth keeping in mind:

  • New toys are usually preferred. Most holiday toy drives request new, unused items.
  • Leave gifts unwrapped. Many organizations need to sort donations by age and gender before distributing them.
  • Don’t forget the older kids! Teenagers are often overlooked when it comes to holiday donations. Games, headphones, sports equipment, art supplies, and gift cards can make great gifts.
  • Check donation hours. Some locations only accept toys on specific dates or during certain hours.
  • Check wish lists. Organizations often have specific needs or items they’re running low on.

This list is a work in progress, and I’d love to make it as comprehensive as possible!
