Celebrate Valentine’s Day & Ferris Wheel Day Together at The St. Louis Wheel

St. Louis Union Station is the place for romance and fun this Valentine’s Day as the day of love combines forces with National Ferris Wheel Day.

National Ferris Wheel Day is held on February 14 to honor the birthday of the amusement ride’s inventor, George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr.

Ferris’ lofty creation was a centerpiece of the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis’ Forest Park. He debuted his Wheel at the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago before reassembling it for the St. Louis fair. Today’s observation wheels, including the St. Louis Wheel, are a modern take on Ferris’ high-flying creation.

Take love to new heights with a ride on the St. Louis Wheel at Union Station.

The 200-foot-tall observation wheel will be lighted in red and pink themes for Valentine’s celebrations. Riders can cozy up to their loved ones in the Wheel’s gondolas, which are enclosed and kept at a comfortable 72 degrees no matter what the weather outside.

A special Valentine’s Month Date Night Package includes two Wheel tickets, two drinks from the Anheuser-Busch beverage container in the Wheel Park, and a photo package for two for $61.42 including tax. Guests can extend the fun by adding a round of mini-golf and a romantic ride on the St. Louis Carousel in the Wheel Park.

The St. Louis Wheel is located at St. Louis Union Station, 201 S. 18th St., St. Louis, MO 63103 and is open from noon until 8 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays; noon to 10 p.m. on Fridays; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays. I'm a 40-year-old father blessed with two wonderful children: a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. My life revolves around my beautiful wife, who is the cornerstone of our family. Without her unwavering support, none of what I do would be possible. By day, I serve as a network administrator for a local school district, ensuring smooth operations in the realm of technology. During the evenings, you'll often find me engrossed in various creative pursuits, from illustrating books to crafting websites or composing music. But above all, my priority is spending quality time with my kids. Parenthood has been a profound journey of growth and discovery for me, and now, armed with a keyboard instead of a pen, I'm eager to share my experiences and insights with others.
