Step Into the Darkness

If you’re searching for a haunted attraction that combines the perfect mix of family fun and genuine scares, look no further than The Hollows Haunted Trail at Brookdale Farms. Nestled in the heart of Eureka, just minutes from St. Louis, this outdoor haunt brings Halloween to life with eerie fog, twisting cornfields, and a cast of terrifying live actors who know exactly when to strike.

This is not your average haunted house, it’s a walk-through trail of terror that feels more like stepping into your worst nightmare under the Missouri moonlight.

Our Night at The Hollows

Last night, my family and I decided to test our courage and see what The Hollows was all about. With three kids in tow (ages 10 to 15), we were ready for a few jumps and laughs — but we got much more than that! Within minutes, all three kids were screaming at the top of their lungs, clutching each other as the shadows came alive around us.

The live actors were incredible — full of energy, timing, and a sense of fun that made the whole experience unforgettable. Even us adults got caught off guard a few times, proving that this haunt doesn’t hold back on the scares when it counts.

What Makes The Hollows Stand Out

The Hollows isn’t loaded with animatronics or big-budget props, and honestly, it doesn’t need them. The real star is the setting — a dimly lit trail winding through foggy woods and cornfields where every crunch of leaves and every gust of wind keeps you guessing.

It’s that old-school horror atmosphere that makes it special. You can’t predict what’s coming, and that’s what keeps your adrenaline pumping. The darkness and isolation of the trail do most of the work — the actors simply finish the job.

Fun for Families, Friends, or Date Nights

While it’s definitely scary, The Hollows is all-ages welcome. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and parents are encouraged to use their discretion for younger kids.

Our group loved that the experience was paced perfectly — groups are spaced out enough that you’re not walking in a crowd, so the suspense builds naturally. You get your own share of jump scares without spoilers from the group ahead. Unless you’re sprinting (not recommended!), you’ll enjoy a great rhythm that makes every scare count.
