Hey there St. Louis Dad readers! As you can see we made it through another year and that means another year end wrap up post. This post doesn’t have anything to do with you like a Spotify Wrapped would, but it’s more about me and my family and some of the memories that were made over this last year.

A couple of musical highlights were seeing Badfish, Voodoo Fleetwood Mac, and the Swiftmas in Taylorville show. I was happy that my daughter got to go to see some of these bands this past year. Hopefully in 2025 we can see even more. It will really just depend on ticket prices.

One of the biggest lowlights of the year was on Super Bowl Sunday, me and my two kids were in a car accident right in front of the Arch. The accident left us three without any serious injury but we did get some physical therapy for a few months to work out the kinks in our bodies. I got the worst of it but my doctor was amazing and really did a great job getting me back to good!

Making our way through Bingo Night at school, hiking at the Garden of The Gods, and Record Store Day and Free Comic Book Day with my great nephew really helped get through the spring this year. To top it off with a Support Staff Award at work and those amazing aurora lights in May, I wasn’t sure how this year could get better.

Record Store Day 2024

In June, my son and I went to Colorado with some of our favorite people. Neither of us have ever been there and it was breathtaking. We road trails and had some fun metal detecting hoping to strike it rich. Seeing snow on a mountain 13,000 feet in the air was something I never thought I would experience, and I cannot thank my family enough for making the trip possible.

Once we were back home we had to get back out into the wilderness by doing some creekin’ in our favorite spots on the Meramec and Castor River Shut-Ins. We also had to celebrate good ol’ America on the fourth with rockets red glare, and firecrackers bursting through the night.

We couldn’t let 2024 slip by without doing a family vacation. Colorado was just me and my son, but Texas, that was all of us! We headed down to the Canyon Lake area to do some floating on the Guadalupe River. It was a cold float, but a lot of fun with the kids. Plus, I whipped up some cactus juice to keep me warm.

After a few days of fun in the Canyon Lake area we ventured off to Galveston for some fun on the beach, a crazy huge waterpark, and of course The Pleasure Pier! We finished off our Texas trip with a must needed visit with my wife’s grandparents near Houston. After a tasty lunch and some birthday hugs we were on the road back to Missouri!

The party can’t last forever. In August we lost my Aunt Trecia. We honored her life in one of the most touching services and get togethers I’ve ever attended. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, guiding us through the darkest days. Aunt Trish may be gone, but her light will never fade.

October can be a busy month for me with 24 Hour Comic Book Day and Inktober both occurring in the same month. This year my son and I wrote and illustrated a sequel to our Mischief Night book. We were able to write, draw, color, and publish this book all within 24 hours. Not an easy task to accomplish! Along with 24 Hour Comic Book Day, October is also Inktober. So, the kids and I spent each evening illustrating one of the Inktober keywords. Scroll through my instagram to see this years results! October doesn’t only include drawing, we also hit up the pumpkin patch and not to forget that free candy on Halloween!

Then the election happened, it didn’t go the way our family hoped, but we can hope for the best for America and hope that democracy does its thing and keeps America going. We wrapped up the year with Thanksgiving, several birthdays (including mine!) and of course Christmas and New Years Eve!

That’s about it as far as my year goes, below are a few more highlights that I figured I’d include in my yearly wrap up. I can’t wait to see where 2025 takes us!

New Music from Missouri Mobile Productions

This year I released two new instrumental projects. Flood & Evil Beats are both great projects filled with a bunch of inventive experimental hip-hop production. This year I also was able to create a bunch of covers for the Milwaukee hip-hop artist Tez Malone. I also sent him some instrumentals and I am excited to hear what comes out of them.

Spotify Wrapped

It’s always fun to see what Spotify comes up with based on my listening habits on the app. Spotify isn’t my main source for audio. I usually curate my own playlists, but it’s cool Spotify keeps track of your listens and provides you with a nice breakdown of your year.

The top 9 pictures I’ve uploaded to Instagram this year! I really need to post more. Not sure why I don’t but I should make that a goal in 2025.

My 2024 Favorites

For the last few years I try to list off my favorites from the year. Sometimes the list has older stuff that I got into recently and really enjoyed the past year. Here is this years list of favorites.

2025 and Beyond

So what does 2025 and beyond have in store for St. Louis Dad? I have absolutely no idea. Each year I plan on doing this, that, and the other thing but I end up doing something not even on the list. So instead of making promises or making plans, I am going to ride the wave and see where it takes me.

I'm a 40-year-old father blessed with two wonderful children: a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. My life revolves around my beautiful wife, who is the cornerstone of our family. Without her unwavering support, none of what I do would be possible. By day, I serve as a network administrator for a local school district, ensuring smooth operations in the realm of technology. During the evenings, you'll often find me engrossed in various creative pursuits, from illustrating books to crafting websites or composing music. But above all, my priority is spending quality time with my kids. Parenthood has been a profound journey of growth and discovery for me, and now, armed with a keyboard instead of a pen, I'm eager to share my experiences and insights with others.
