After what felt like an eternity collecting dust, the new Toxic Avenger finally crawled out from the vaults, and wow, was it worth the wait! Campy, hilarious, and totally off the wall, this is exactly the kind of midnight movie chaos fans of the franchise have been craving.
From the first splatter to the last over-the-top gag, the film delivers that signature blend of outrageous gore and tongue-in-cheek comedy that made the original a cult classic. The unrated cut doesn’t hold back. Director Macon Blair, leans into the absurdity with confidence, doubling down on the grotesque humor, cartoonish violence, and weird charm that makes Toxie who he is.
What’s wild is that a movie this gleefully unhinged sat on the shelf for so long. In an era of safe blockbusters, it feels refreshing to watch something that proudly embraces its B-movie roots and runs wild with them.
If you’re a fan of schlocky, over-the-top fun, the new Toxic Avenger is a must watch. It’s messy, it’s ridiculous, and it’s a blast from start to finish, the kind of movie that demands popcorn, a group of friends, and a sense of humor as warped as the film itself.
