One of the most meaningful events happening in our area this spring is designed with a very specific mission in mind: creating a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free Easter celebration for children with special needs and their families.
On Sunday, March 29th, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, families are invited to a Sensory-Friendly Easter Bunny Bash at the beautiful St. Louis Carousel. Now in its second year, this event is hosted by Gallia Wealth Management Group LLC and put together by local parent John Gallia, who created it after recognizing a gap in accessible community celebrations.
Why This Event Matters
If you’re a parent of a child with special needs, you know that attending public events can sometimes feel overwhelming. There’s often uncertainty about how your child might respond to crowds, noise, or long lines — and unfortunately, there can also be the unspoken fear of being judged.
Too often, families simply choose to stay home.
This event exists to change that.
As a parent of a child with special needs himself, John understands those concerns firsthand. His goal is simple but powerful: create an inclusive environment where families feel comfortable, supported, and celebrated.
What Families Can Expect
This isn’t just a quick photo-op. It’s a thoughtfully designed experience where children and families can:
- Meet the Easter Bunny in a sensory-friendly setting
- Participate in arts and crafts
- Enjoy fun swag
- Ride the carousel as many times as they’d like
And the best part? Everything is completely free of charge. Just show up and sign in!
Last year’s event was incredibly well received, with families expressing gratitude for a space where they could relax and simply enjoy the moment. The team at the St. Louis Carousel was wonderfully accommodating and is excited to host the event again this year.
Building More Inclusive Community Moments
Events like this remind us what community is really about — making sure everyone has a seat at the table (or in this case, a ride on the carousel). By removing financial barriers and creating a supportive atmosphere, this Easter Bunny Bash is helping families make joyful memories without added stress.
If you know a family who could benefit from this event, please share this information with them. Inclusive spaces matter, and so do the memories made within them.
We’re grateful to see initiatives like this happening right here in the St. Louis area.
