Meet Anew Nature

anewnature2With the election behind us and many trying to find some sort comfort in the results should know that not everyone in this world is as crazy as the news being shown on T.V. or on your Facebook feed makes it out to be. There are actually companies and people out there that are making a difference. They put themselves out there and do what they can do make someone else’s life better. That’s why I want to introduce my readers to Anew Nature.

Anew Nature is a furniture restoration and custom design company. There are many companies out there that do this sort of thing, but Anew Nature has an unique way of going about this, each piece is carefully crafted with artistic details, which makes their pieces look different from any other.  They specialize in taking old furniture and infusing that piece with new life and a modern look. Additionally, they create custom pieces that begin with a customer vision and end with an unique and beautiful product. But that’s not even the best part…

Anew Nature is in partnership with Mission St. Louis, a local non-profit. Mission St. Louis provides job and leadership classes as well as internships to previously incarcerated men. It is Anew Nature’s privilege to be one of Mission St. Louis’ internship locations.

anewnatureFor six weeks, they work side-by-side with these men, using every minute to help encourage, give direction, and provide crucial vocational and social skills they need in any future job they may receive. The men are not only given the dignity of a paycheck and positive feedback but new relationships that will help them transition into their next stage of life.

Currently, Anew Nature has started a Kickstarter fundraiser that would help generate revenue to grow their business and hire more men who complete in the program. These men are fathers, sons, brothers, and friends. They have a good heart and are working to better themselves, their community, and of course, your living room. I typically do not write about a company or project unless I truly see their value and what Anew Nature and Mission St. Louis is doing with these men is a benefit for all of mankind. The skills provided can translate to many opportunities well into the future. Check out their Kickstarter page and see what rewards are available and if you feel like dropping something in the bucket for Anew Nature please do.

This video is a great introduction to Anew Nature and what their mission is here in St. Louis.

Switching Up My Phone Case with a jimmyCASE

IMG_6900My phone and my wallet are probably the two most important items that I carry with me every single day. My wallet is already pretty slick. I’ve been very happy with the slimJIMMY. The kids are always grabbing at my phone. So keeping it functioning is very important. Because of this I need to keep my phone in a case. I have used several different cases with my phone over the time that I have had it and I haven’t stuck with one in particular but I think I might have a favorite now.

Like I said I’ve been very happy with the slimJIMMY wallet that I have been using I decided why not try out one o f their phone cases. So I got one wooden phone case from jimmyCASE sent over and it is very slick. The wood backing is very eloquent and let me tell you about the whole aspect of using your phone case as your wallet. It is awesome. I am all about carrying less things, but there are some items that I need to have with me all of the time. They are my phone, wallet, and my keys. That’s three items that I need to remember. If I could possibly have less items that would be even better. I already keep the bare minimum in my wallet, so why not try out this wallet slash phone case concept jimmyCASE has got going on here.

IMG_6901After just a week of using the jimmyCASE I am sold on it. I have everything I need right here in one spot. Ya know, last year I lost my wallet at the pumpkin patch and someone was nice enough to turn it in. Because of how small my previous wallet was it fell out of my pocket when I got in my car. If my wallet was included with my phone it would be significantly less likely to fall out of my pocket. Matter of fact, I know it wouldn’t have fallen out of my pocket if it was an iphone wallet.

The jimmyCASE is by far the most versatile case I have used for my phone to date. The quality is spectacular and I am sold on using this case daily. However, as a dad I need to mention the two biggest setbacks with using the jimmyCASE. Let me preface this by saying that these two cons have nothing to do with how the case works or it’s design. It’s just the customer, it’s not the case, it’s me. LOL. Anyways, the two biggest drawbacks are first, if I did lose my phone, then I also lost my wallet. That would suck big time. But you can’t blame the phone case for that. Typically it’s the owner’s fault. The other setback is that when my kids are pawing at my phone I don’t need them to get cheesy puff fingers all over my wallet. What makes this not that big of a deal is how easy it is to change cases on my phone. I can easily swap out my case when the kiddos want to play a game or watch some YouTube Kids.

All in all, I am really digging the jimmyCASE. If you are in the market for a new iPhone 7 card holder definitely give them a look. Their wallet is also pretty awesome as well. But that’s just my opinion.

jimmyCASE provided St. Louis Dad with a complimentary case in exchange for a honest review. Check out for more information!

My Dream Bathroom

huntington-brass-platinum-collections-250So the other night I was giving my son a bath and he was just getting water everywhere. He can get a little crazy in the tub with his action figures so it’s always important to keep a few towels around to clean up whatever mess he may create. So while he was playing I was sitting there in my bathroom starting to daze off into a day dream of what I would want my dream bathroom to look like.

There are the Kohlers and other stylish brands but lately I have been seeing a lot of style pushed towards PlumbTile. So much so that when I am transported into my day dream that’s all that I see. PlumbTile designs and accessories all throughout my relatively small bathroom. The first thing that would need to be done would be to find a nice tile. PlumbTile has plenty of options for bath and kitchen tile or bathroom retile. The options are incredible and would really make this room stand out. It would be a big upgrade to do but that’s why this is only a day dream… for now. I am a big fan of the stone look and PlumbTile has plenty of options to choose from. I really like a lot of what Solistone has to offer when it comes to that stone looks. So I will probably go with something in this range.

Of course since I just changed the tile I would need to pick out some fixtures that match. Again, PlumbTile knocks it out of the park with their phylrich faucets or phylrich fixtures. It is hard to choose which one would look perfect in here. Because of my indecisiveness I can hear my wife in my day dream telling me that phylrich is nice but huntington brass would look much better in our newly remodeled dream bathroom. I laugh and we pick out an amazingly cool faucet that our kiddos will love using. It has these nice clean angles and just looks awesome. I’d imagine my son would call it the “water robot”.

It’s fun to imagine what you can do to a room. Whether it’s a complete remodel or a small upgrade. I know PlumbTile has some fantastic products. They will be my go to shop for supplies when it actually does become time to remodel this old bathroom. Until then, I’ll just scoop my little guy out of the tub, drain the water and dry him off. We will pick up his toys and put them away and get ready for bed. While he is busy dreaming about superheroes and race cars, maybe tonight I can slip back into my dream and finish this remodel. Things were definitely looking good before I snapped back to reality, and the best part is, I didn’t have a budget.
