Women have played a vital role in shaping the world of transportation, contributing their ingenuity, dedication, and hard work to advancements that we often take for granted. From the invention of windshield wipers to the development of refrigerated rail cars and the construction of iconic structures like the Brooklyn Bridge, women have left their mark on every mode of transportation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This banner exhibit celebrates the accomplishments of Women in Transportation<\/strong>, highlighting their diverse roles as scientists, project managers, inventors, and adventurers. By showcasing the stories of both famous and unsung heroes, we hope to inspire and educate visitors about the significant contributions women have made to transportation history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ford Motor Company Model A, considered the second market success for the company, is well represented in this display along with a collection of historic bicycles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Display runs through October 31, 2025<\/strong>. Artifact of the Month – The Dyke Automotive Business<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enjoy a quick look at the Dyke Automotive Correspondence Course and first mail-order catalog for automobile parts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinner is Served! The Harvey Girls, Historic Plates, and Helping Hands<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fred Harvey catered to the traveling public with restaurants, hotels, and dining cars in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This case display gives an overview of the importance of excellent food service as rail travel expanded for business and pleasure.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
