St. Louis — <\/strong>Where is one of the best places in St. Louis to get a great view of the 2024 Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8? On the City Museum Rooftop, of course!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get a pair of special Eclipse Sunglasses and come see the dark side of the moon for this once (or twice) in a lifetime celestial event. The eclipse will begin around 12:45 p.m., with near-totality around 2 p.m. The sun returns to full visibility around 3:15 p.m. Eclipse sunglasses will be handed out on the Rooftop prior to the solar event. The viewing party is included with City Museum admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justin King Cardboard Art<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create your own cardboard art masterpiece during Earth Month at City Museum alongside artist Justin King on April 20 and 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

St Louis-based artist Justin King\u202fis widely known for his unique cardboard sculptures.\u202fHe uses texture, color, and movement to express his ideas in paintings and sculptures, often using non-traditional materials and techniques to create a truly unique voice in his approach and style. King will be in Art City at City Museum demonstrating his techniques while working on a new sculpture. This art activity is included with City Museum general admission or a member pass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Physics Bus Visits City Museum<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spending April 24 – 27 learning about physics aboard an old school bus may be the last thing you expect, but this spring at City Museum might just surprise you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t any old bus, and this certainly isn\u2019t your standard high school physics class. This bright purple, tricked out, solar equipped, traveling science museum is filled with hands-on experiments that glow, zap, buzz, float, surprise, and delight. This unique experience, dubbed The Physics Bus, is the brainchild of Ithaca, NY-based professional tinkerer, Erik Herman. Now celebrating it\u2019s 20th year, this mobile wonderland for physical phenomena is pleased to be adding a week-long stop at City Museum to its 2024 national tour.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Earth Week (April 24 \u2013 27) be sure to stop by and be a part of this eccentric endeavor as recyclables, discarded tech, thrift store appliances, and other everyday objects are transformed by a team of tinkerers-in-residence into interactive contraptions that bend your mind and expand your understanding of the universe around us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Control rainbow-colored magnetic fields, draw glowing pictures with lasers, and zap yourself (or your friends!) with energy you create with just the twist of a knob.  Follow along during the week as a pile of \u2018junk\u2019 slowly transforms into something truly extraordinary, culminating in a debut exhibition on Saturday, April 27. Mark your calendars and get ready for some \u201cwow,\u201d because the Physics Bus is coming to town, and you won\u2019t want to miss it. The Physics Bus team will be on site for demonstrations, Wednesday, April 24 \u2013 Friday, April 26 with 30-minute presentations at noon and 2 p.m. on the 4th Floor of CIty Museum. The Physics Bus will also be parked at City Museum on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Physics Bus is Included with general admission or a member pass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leather Painting & Protection Workshop with Artist Brock Seals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 27, artist Brock Seals will lead two classes on the painting and preservation of leather items in the Art City area at City Museum. Guests can choose to attend from 10 a.m. until noon or from 5 to 7 p.m. This hands-on workshop will teach participants how to revamp an old pair of shoes, add a personal touch to a hat, or customize other vinyl or leather items, The class will equip everyone with the skills and techniques to bring their creative visions to life.  Attendees should bring the item they want to paint. Leather paint, brushes, and leather conditioning materials will be provided.  The price of the class is $50 and includes general CIty Museum admission ($30 for members).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
