We hit a new milestone this past weekend. Our little guy hit the big 7! Even with corona still kneecapping much of the nation we made the most out of it!

Our little bubble hasn’t changed much since this time last year. We didn’t know that my son’s 6th birthday party was going to be the last week of normalcy we would experience. Because just a week later everything shut down, schools closed, and life changed for pretty much every single person on this planet.

Here we are a year later and honestly, not much has changed. We kept the kids home for virtual schooling for the first semester. They did great but we could tell they needed to get back to the classroom. Our main reason for keeping them home was no longer there and so back to the classroom they went.

It is interesting to see the difference a year can make. Things blend together so much in our own personal lives that when you look back at someone else’s life, you can really see the growth.

My son is such a caring person. He has concerns about corona and he wants everyone to be safe and wear a mask. His big heart shines bright and even though many of his favorite places are just not great ideas for parties we made sure he had a blast turning 7.

So we made sure he had an amazing day. With a beautiful weekend we got out the various yard games, and made a bon-fire. The next morning we ate some breakfast and went metal detecting! We never found any treasures but we did have a nice chat with a park ranger who gave us some helpful tips.

Of course Raya and The Last Dragon was our family movie choice and let me tell ya, this kid loves his Micro Machines! I cannot believe they are back in stores and this dad is pretty stoked his kid loves them as much as I did. There were plenty of other gifts and a lot of fun had. I am proud of the young man that I am raising. Full of respect and has a heart of gold, I love that I get to call this kid my son.

I'm a 40-year-old father blessed with two wonderful children: a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. My life revolves around my beautiful wife, who is the cornerstone of our family. Without her unwavering support, none of what I do would be possible. By day, I serve as a network administrator for a local school district, ensuring smooth operations in the realm of technology. During the evenings, you'll often find me engrossed in various creative pursuits, from illustrating books to crafting websites or composing music. But above all, my priority is spending quality time with my kids. Parenthood has been a profound journey of growth and discovery for me, and now, armed with a keyboard instead of a pen, I'm eager to share my experiences and insights with others.
