Thank You St. Louis Magazine!

STLMag-Dad5Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of talking with Stefene Russell from St. Louis Magazine. She and her editor thought it would be great to feature St. Louis Dad in their fall family issue. I was super excited and very nervous to take part in the interview. I had set the interview up for a Friday afternoon a little after lunch time. I had the day off because of my work schedule and thought it would be perfect timing. Little did I know I was wrong.

Originally I had planned on having my wife watch the kiddos while I did the interview. This would be helpful so I can concentrate on the conversation. Unfortunately my wife needed to work that day at the last minute. As someone who has a hard time saying no to work, i.e. money, I told my wife to go and not to worry about it, I got this I told her.

Then the a/c went out. Of course it was one of the hotter weeks of the year and the a/c service techs would be running in and out of the house all day replacing our entire system. So on top of tending to the kids, I was making sure everything the techs needed was made available, along with sweating my booty off (as Abby would put it). Either way I was going to make it through this interview. About thirty minutes before I was to start the interview I laid Alex down for his nap. I got him to sleep and felt that I was in the clear to handle this like a professional. Boy was I wrong… again. Alex woke up literally two minutes before the phone call and I rushed to keep as calm and relaxed as possible.

During the interview Stefene could tell that I had a lot happening on my side of the phone, she was an ebullient professional who showed extreme patience with me needing to pause to get Abby or Alex a drink, cartoons, etc. I want to express sincere gratitude for featuring me on their website and magazine. I never expected any sort of recognition for writing about my kids and a few products. I gotta say it makes you feel good to be a dad.

Richie

My name is Richie and I am a 40 year old father of two, a daughter and son. I am married to a beautiful woman named Destiny. She is the foundation of our family, and without her, none of this would be possible. During the day I work as a network security administrator for a local school district. At night I can be found illustrating books, working on websites, or creating music, but more than likely though I am spending time with my kids.
