Bouncing Off The Walls Again

IMG_8437Whoa, it’s not just a popular Sugarcult song, it’s my life right now. After a few rounds fighting off the bugs going around it appears as though the kids and myself have started to bounce off the walls. It’s great to feel back to normal and not coughing at the most inconvenient times, (like when you have food in your mouth, or talking to someone)…

I am happy that my family seems to be getting back on track and pushing these bugs out of our house. It had been a rough couple of weeks, getting woken up in the middle of the night to clean up a mess. It wasn’t fun and probably never will be, but you do what you have to do for your kids and you don’t complain.

Seeing my kids out for the count is heartbreaking. Cuddles are in high demand when the kids are sick. So my wife and I soak it up as much as we can. When the kids are feeling fine they never want to cuddle. They want to play and break free. But with sickness, it’s like cuddles are a requirement. So I will take as many as I can get.

A few of those days were pretty rough. Even me and my wife caught a little bit of something. We pushed through and managed to get better quickly but the kids, they took it the hardest this time around.

All in all I am happy everyone is on the mend and things are seemingly getting back to normal. Spring has brought some nice weather with it so I think it’s time to grab the skateboards and get outside to expel some of that pent up energy.

Getting Down With The Sickness

alex-sicknessIt wasn’t my plan, but it happened anyway. Over the last several days my kids have been coughing and running fevers and puking at the most inconvenient times. When they are sick it makes me feel so horrible for them and I just wish I could take their sickness away. Typically when they get sick the countdown begins as to when either mom or dad will be starting to feel some symptoms. I thought I was in the clear. Several days passed and I felt pretty good. I was thinking that maybe I was immune to whatever they had, boy was I wrong. All of the coughing in my face, the snotty hands touching everything in my house, no matter how much I or my wife cleaned it got me. It took some time to get me but it got me.

Kids are great but when they get sick and then pass it on to you it is brutal. What makes it even worse is that when you start getting down with the sickness the kids are usually on the rebound and are feeling better. So any chances of sitting still so you can tame this cold is not happening. Being a parent you have to roll with the punches and fight against the viruses hell bent on bringing you down. Taking medicine definitely helps make you feel better but some medicines can make you absent minded and not fully focused on all of the details. So what your kids may have mismatched clothes, but at least you’re recovering right?

Now I am in recovery mode. I was able to get out of bed and get ready for work. My voice sounds like I’ve hit puberty for the second time and my head feels like I am balancing some weights up top, but all in all I am feeling pretty good. I hope to make a nutritious dinner tonight for the family and hopefully get some much needed rest. So tell me, how do you get down with the sickness?
