My Dogs Are Terrible at Fetch

chewy.comThe always great Chewy.com sent over what I thought would be an excellent product to review with the dogs. They sent over a large West Paw Zogoflex Air Dash Frisbee Peacock Dog Toy. The quality of this Frisbee is amazing. It is very durable, made for doggies to easily catch with their mouths and bring back to their owner for another toss out into the air.

IMG_0797Yeah, well, that’s how I imagined it would work. For starters there is absolutely nothing wrong with the frisbee itself. Like I said it is very durable and quality made, but there is definitely something wrong with my dogs. Remember how I said they can easily catch this with their mouths? Well with Clark is basically bounces off his head and with Miss Lady she just watches as you throw it and then have to retrieve it yourself. I guess my dogs just are not fetchers. I’ve tried many different times, on different days, with different techniques but I swear my dogs think I have something up my sleeve whenever I toss out the Frisbee for them to catch.

What they are good at is playing tug-o-war with the Frisbee. So at least we got that going for them. It makes a pretty good toy in that regard, however I didn’t really want them chewing it up. I have a feeling that I will need to work more and more with them to get them to start actually catching the Frisbee and bring it back.

Like I said the Frisbee is of great quality, and if you know your dogs better than I know my own then it would be a great toy for them if they are into playing fetch. I had always wanted a dog that would fetch, and my previous dog Brooke was a master at it. She would fetch whatever you threw out for her to grab. She would’ve loved this toy, but Clark and Miss Lady just do not seem interested in participating in the fun.

IMG_0839Being a parent sometimes you try out goofy things with your kids… Since I couldn’t get the dogs to fetch the Frisbee for me, I tried it out on the kids and low and behold, it worked! At first Abby would run out and grab the Frisbee and bring it back for me to just throw again and she got annoyed at that. But once it became a race between her and my son Alex to see who could get it first that is when the fun began. So yes, I am the parent who plays fetch with my kids. I’m sure I’m not the only one out there. I’d like to thank Chewy for sending out this awesome Zogoflex Frisbee and as much as I wish the dogs were into it, they just weren’t. I have plenty of family with doggies, so I will try to see if one of them may like to fetch more than Clark and Miss Lady, but for now I will just use it to tire my kids out.

Boo Bar Treats for Halloween!

chewy.comThis month Chewy has the perfect treat for your doggies this Halloween season. Boo Bar treats are a mix of pumpkin and cinnamon baked together with whole grains, fruits, and veggies. Made by The Blue Buffalo Co. these were very loved by both Clark and Miss Lady. Too be perfectly honest I wasn’t optimistic about these treats at first. I wasn’t sure the dogs would like a pumpkin and cinnamon flavored treat. Like usual, I was wrong. The dogs loved them and were begging for them every time we got them out.

IMG_0444Holiday themed treats are a fantastic way to switch it up from the normal treats you may get for your dogs. If you get to enjoy some pumpkin in your latte, why not give your pets a nice pumpkin and spice treat too! These would be great to give out to any dogs that may be out trick or treating (with their owners permission of course).

Again, like some of the other dog treats we get, we had to put these ones up so the kids could not see them. The fun packaging can really fool those that cannot read yet. My son Alex threw a nice tantrum when we would not give him a treat. He is only 19 months right now so he just doesn’t understand, and it’s kinda funny when you think about it. I’m sure he would probably think these are pretty tasty too! We’ll keep them away from him just in case.

Cookies and Stains

chewy.comThis month Chewy.com sent over two products that were well received in my house. The first item was Merrick’s Jerky Chip Treats. They are oven-baked cookies for dogs. We tried out the Real Beef Recipe with Miss Lady and Clark. Needless to say they really enjoyed the treats. I don’t think there is anything they won’t eat. We typically reward our dogs when they are being good. Such as when we are eating dinner. If they do not hound us for food and instead lay in another room, then we will reward them with a treat like these cookies.

I like the idea of the dog treats in the form of a cookie. They look a lot like the real deal, so much in fact we had to put these high up on the shelf so our kids did not see them. They do not know how to read yet, and because these look so much like cookies I know they would immediately want some. I am pretty sure if my daughter took a big bite out of one of these, she probably wouldn’t trust any cookie I give her. I wouldn’t blame her. These are definitely for dogs only.

IMG_4574The next item Chewy sent over was Rocco & Roxie Supply Co. Professional Strength Stain & Odor Eliminator. Unfortunately our dogs have had accidents in the house in the past. We have gotten the carpets cleaned and we have even purchased our own steam cleaner. Surprisingly, it took me a few weeks before I even had a chance to use the spray. Which is a good thing. Nobody wants to clean their carpets from pet stains. Luckily, the bottle says that it has a”Natural bio-enzymatic formula, permanently eliminates pet urine odor”. So when I finally had the chance to try it out I was very surprised at how well it worked. The spray itself smelled pretty good. So I followed the directions and after 20 minutes I could not tell that Clark had left his business on my floor. That was the only chance I’ve had to use it, so a win for Miss Lady and Clark in that category.

It’s also a big win for Rocco & Roxie Supply Co. They have a nice spray here and I definitely recommend picking up a bottle if your pet has any indoor accidents. Chewy.com really has pretty much everything you need for your pet, and I want to hear about them. So be sure to comment below and tell us about your furry children!

A Chewy Knuckle

chewy.comWhen Chewy.com sent me the King size Blue Buffalo Wilderness Wild Chews Knuckle I was immediately impressed with this thing. It was huge. Larger than my fist. It came at a perfect time too. Clark, my boxer is significantly more active than Miss Lady my terrier mix. In my previous post I mentioned that our air conditioner went out and we had to have some gentlemen over to replace it. Clark loves to bark at strangers. It’s a good thing but can be very annoying when you have people coming in and out of the house.

IMG_4346We put Clark in his kennel along with the Knuckle. I did not hear a peep from Clark the entire time he was in there. All you could hear was him going to town on this bone. The Knuckle is highly recommended for keeping your dog busy when you need to get some stuff done. The best part about this product is that it lasted longer than a day. Both dogs enjoyed chewing on the Wilderness Knuckle for about a week.

The Knuckle itself is a beef bone with natural flavor. The packaging says Long Lasting Dog Chew and I have to say again that is definitely the case. This will be making the list of items to get for my doggies when it is time to pick up their treats!

Watch Clark go to town on his new bone!
