It is one of those days in St. Louis where everyone should have the day off. Cardinal Nation is back in action and today is the opening day for the St. Louis Cardinals. This morning on the news I had seen there were several people camped up ready for the day’s festivities. I actually had to go to work today. Which is okay in my opinion since the game doesn’t actually start until 3:15PM against the Milwaukee Brewers. I love the Cardinals and I am hoping for a great season. I already have my tickets purchased for a game later this month and I will be taking the entire family with me. It is going to be so much fun. Now I just need the weather to be cooperative. Heading out to Busch Stadium is a favorite family activity of ours. One that we plan on doing every year and as often as possible.

“The Cardinals bring us closer together as a family. No matter whether we lose or win, we are right there cheering on our team together.”

To celebrate opening day my family will be watching the game from home. Of course we will be decked out in our Cardinal gear which is always a must for any Cards fan. My wife had sent over the text earlier in the day confirming hot dogs, fries, and ball park nachos for dinner. I can just taste the wonderful cheesey goodness now.

Being a Cardinals family is a fantastic feeling. Baseball is our sport. We are not a football or basketball family. We typically do not watch NASCAR, golf, tennis, hockey, or soccer. There are no other sports besides Cardinal baseball. We will watch the Superbowl or a few other major events but the red birds are it for us. When I ask my wife what being a Cards fan means to her, she tells me “it’s all about family”. “The Cardinals bring us closer together as a family. No matter whether we lose or win, we are right there cheering on our team together.”

Not to be outdone my little girl Abby wanted to give the Cardinals some words of encouragement for their big opening day! Tickets are available so be sure to pick some up and support our St. Louis Cardinals! If you are downtown at Busch or Ballpark Village today please comment and/or tweet me your favorite photos!

I'm a 40-year-old father blessed with two wonderful children: a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. My life revolves around my beautiful wife, who is the cornerstone of our family. Without her unwavering support, none of what I do would be possible. By day, I serve as a network administrator for a local school district, ensuring smooth operations in the realm of technology. During the evenings, you'll often find me engrossed in various creative pursuits, from illustrating books to crafting websites or composing music. But above all, my priority is spending quality time with my kids. Parenthood has been a profound journey of growth and discovery for me, and now, armed with a keyboard instead of a pen, I'm eager to share my experiences and insights with others.

  1. Sport definitely has the ability to bring people and families together. Great post. I’d love to follow American sports more closely.

  2. I’ll be honest I’m not a massive sports fan. I just don’t get it. But it’s great to have it in common with family…I’m sure that makes it better. Thanks for linking up with us on the #bigfatlinky
