Hello Kindergarten!

It’s been a good ride, but like they say, all good things must come to an end at some point. That’s exactly what happened this fall for my little buddy, my mini-bro… he started kindergarten.

All summer we have been letting him know how amazing it would be, the games, the friends, recess, art, etc!!! He would have small bursts of excitement, but all in all you could tell the little guy was nervous about starting school. So we did our best to prepare him.

What we forgot though was to prepare ourselves…

The first day of school arrived and our little guy woke up with excitement. He was ready to go!!! Surprisingly there were no fights, no tears, and when we said goodbye he went right back to what he was working on. Our little boy was already getting so big. It was hard to accept the idea that both of our kids will now be in school, it was even harder than we even imagined. No longer would mom have her little helper, or would I have someone to tell me about his and mom’s daily adventures. Now his stories are about his day at school, what he learned, who he played with, and how often he crop dusts the carpet (sorry!!!).

So from hearing his hilarious stories to just sitting down and listening to how his day has gone, the feels have definitely hit this dad hard. Now with a few weeks of kindergarten behind us, hearing about his day just gets better and better with each story.

Richie

My name is Richie and I am a 35 year old father of two. My daughter is nine years old and my son is five. I am married to a beautiful woman named Destiny. She is the foundation of our family, and without her, none of this would be possible. During the day I work as a network security administrator for a local school district. At night I can be found illustrating books, working on websites, or creating music, but more than likely though I am spending time with my kids.
