Dear Moms,

You may have recently read or heard about the number of dads around the world rallying behind a recently passed dad blogger’s mission to have Amazon change their Amazon Mom program to Amazon Family. I did not personally know Oren Miller, the fallen blogger. The only interaction I had with him was a welcoming message to the dad bloggers group I recently joined. Honestly, I just started dad blogging and am still learning the ins and outs. What I do know is that I can see that this group looked up to Oren. He was a mentor for many dads trying to find their footing in this societal label called fatherhood. This is a group of dads that are passionate about their kids. These dads have the same values I see blogged about everyday by all of you fantastic moms. Unfortunately we have a problem. Amazon has not responded to our call and because of that I think we could really use your help. I believe your reach is greater than ours. Mom’s have a naturally ebullient way of getting things done. Because of this amazing ability please help our cause, be our Wonder Woman. Try as we might we cannot do this alone.

10422946_10153118343347836_773650274113040463_nThe program already states that “Amazon Mom is a membership program aimed at helping parents and caregivers in the prenatal through toddler years use Amazon to find and save on products their families need. Amazon Mom is open to anyone, whether you’re a mom, dad, grandparent, or caretaker.” This is nothing against moms at all… Being a mom is super important and we do not want to relinquish that fact, however, we as adults all know that sometimes it’s just not a mom and a dad situation… Sometimes it’s two dads, sometimes two moms, or maybe a single dad, or single mom, or maybe grandma and grandpa have taken over parenting. Regardless of the situation, we feel that Amazon should show that they are supportive of all types of families and change Amazon Mom to Amazon Family.

Help us spread the word! Sign the petition http://bit.ly/AmazonFamilyUS, and get this change made. Let’s show Amazon how important family is to all of us.

Moms, if you agree please take a moment to let others know, you can tweet or share this blog post, or write your own.

I'm a 40-year-old father blessed with two wonderful children: a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. My life revolves around my beautiful wife, who is the cornerstone of our family. Without her unwavering support, none of what I do would be possible. By day, I serve as a network administrator for a local school district, ensuring smooth operations in the realm of technology. During the evenings, you'll often find me engrossed in various creative pursuits, from illustrating books to crafting websites or composing music. But above all, my priority is spending quality time with my kids. Parenthood has been a profound journey of growth and discovery for me, and now, armed with a keyboard instead of a pen, I'm eager to share my experiences and insights with others.

  1. Great post. I’ve seen some moms involved in the push for AmazonFamilyUS but they aren’t as visible as the dad blogger community. As “parents” is all encompassing it would be great to see the parenting community tighten for this.
